After probably the best opening weekend in College Football history has now ended the Michigan Wolverines (no surprise) are 1-0 heading into week two against the University of Central Florida Knights.
The Knights are also 1-0 after defeating South Carolina State Bulldogs 38-0. The shutout win is also their first win in over a year after finishing 0-11 in 2015. UCF is bringing in a new coach this year, Scott Frost. He coached the Oregon Ducks high octane offense for the past couple years.
Frost brought his spread offense that he ran at Oregon to Orlando with him. The UCF starting quarterback is Justin Holman, who was 7-13 with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception against South Carolina State. UCF top targets on offense are returning starters Trequan Smith and Tristan Payton at the wideout position and Jawon Hamilton and Taj McGowan and the running back position. Although the Knights may have some octane high caliber players, they seem prone to be finishing off drives early. Against South Carolina State the Knights drive stalled in the end zone resulting in field goals.
Their defense have seven returning starters from last season and have now switched from a 4-3 base to a 3-4 base. UCF’s top defender is red shirt junior linebacker, Shaquem Griffin.
I believe Don Brown’s blitz first defense will be able to control this UCF offense quite easily and predict Michigan to come out for a 42-7 win on Saturday.
