Recruiting: Michigan Wants 2018 QB Allan Walters To Lead The 2018 Class

The 2017 class just kicked off only a few months ago and there is still a long way until 2017 NSD. However, it’s always fun to take a peek into the 2018 class and see what is yet to come. For the Wolverines in the 2018 class, their is one recruit that all Michigan fans have their eyes on. That target is 2018 Paramus (NJ) 4-star QB Allan Walters.

Walters may be a few years out until he has to make a final decision, but the Michigan coaching staff is still recruiting Walters heavily. Coach Jedd Fisch has especially shown Walters a lot of love.

“I love Michigan,” Walters told me. “I love the staff and atmosphere! I want to visit sometime in spring and for the spring game on April 1st.  I love Coach Fisch, I talk to him about every other week; we have a great relationship. He’s had a great history! I’m really impressed with what he has done with previous quarterbacks and I love the enthusiasm he brings to the table. He is really easy to connect with.”

The Wolverines are very high up on Walters list. Ever since Michigan offered a while back, they have been really high up on Walter’s list. If he had a leader, it would most likely be Michigan.

“I don’t have a leader as of right now,” Walters said. “However, if I did have a leader Michigan would most likely be right up there. Right now, I am going to take a long look at all the schools that have offered me. Alabama, Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Temple and Vanderbilt are the schools that are standing out.”

The coaching staff really likes Walters and all he has to offer. They would like Walters to be the first commit in the 2018 class and lead the class by recruiting other targets and setting the tone for the 2018 class. According to the coaching staff, Walters is the #1 target in the 2018 class.

“Yes, I am the #1 quarterback on their board, according to Coach Fisch. He won’t take a commitment until I decide. The coaching staff told me they want to see me throw one more time before I commit to see how I’ve progressed and if I do decide to commit this summer it would be a good timing. It would be amazing to be the leader for Michigan in the 2018 class.”

Walters plans on being in Ann Arbor in the near future for multiple visits in the spring and summer. Possibly with a few highly-rated teammates in Drew Singleton and Corey Bolds.

“I plan on getting up to Ann Arbor for the spring game and sometime in the summer. My teammates Drew Singleton and Corey Bolds might be coming up with me for the spring game on April 1st.”

As of right now, Walters does not have a set date for when he wants to make his commitment. However, he would like to make his decision this summer, but he wants to be 110-percent sure.

“I don’t really have a set date, I will commit whenever it feels like the right time.”
