Recruiting: Michigan Offers A Handful Of 2017 Recruits

The Michigan football team and coaches are all currently enjoying the sun and warm weather for spring practice down in Bradenton, Florida. However, even though the players and coaches are enjoying the well deserved sun and relax time. The recruiting trail is still rolling and continues, the coaching staff offered quite a few 2017 targets within the last few days.

Here is the full list of offers:

2017 Independence, OR (Central) DT Marlon Tuipulotu

Michigan handed out a offer to 2017 Central (Independence, OR) 4-star DT Marlon Tuipulotu early Wednesday. Tuipulotu has been somewhat of a rising player within the last few weeks after his Army Combine performance in San Antonio back in January. He has recently picked up offers from USC and Nebraska. He also holds offers from Arizona, Notre Dame, Oregon and Washington.

Michigan has a legit shot to end up luring Tuipulotu out of the west-coast. However, he is a from the state of Oregon, which is not a state that has a lot of talented high school players. Most recruits who are pursued by Oregon within the state of Oregon pretty much always end up committing to the Ducks. But, I believe it will come down to Michigan, Oregon and Washington.

2017 Alexandria, VA (Episcopal) DE Luiji Vilain

Vilain is a highly-rated prospect and he is being recruit from all over the country by a ton of top programs. He is a elite defensive end who has proven himself many times at multiple recruiting camps. He is a back-to-back participant of the Sound Mind Body Camp, where he has dominated. Vilain holds offers from Georgia, Duke, Ole Miss, UCLA and Ohio State.

Michigan is in really good position with Vilain due to a couple visits from Vilain over the past few years. He has expressed a lot of interest in a offer from Michigan — now that he has one it should be interesting. The Wolverines are very high on his board.

2017 Alexandria, VA (Episcopal) S Jonathan Sutherland

Sutherland is a very popular recruit who holds a lot of big-time offers like Maryland, Miami (FL), Nebraska, North Carolina, Penn State, Wisconsin and others. Sutherland is a Canadian transplant who is playing in Virginia. New Michigan defensive coordinator, Don Brown, offered him when he was at Boston College. He is a athletic defensive back that will likely end up at safety at the next level.

The safety position is a big need for Michigan in the 2017 class. He may not be the highest target on the board for the staff, but he is a recruit that Don Brown likes a lot. North Carolina looks like the team to beat right now; however, expect Michigan to make a run at him.

2017 Millbrook, AL (Stanhope Elmore) ATH Zechariah Byrd

Byrd is a under-the-radar type of recruit in the 2017 class. He is a three-star athlete out of Millbrook (AL) and Michigan is only his fifth offer. He has played basketball for most of his high school career, but he is starting to get more attention in football. Regardless, I think he will be a tough player to pull out of the south.

2017 New Orleans, LA (John Curtis) S Garret Wallow

Wallow is from New Orleans (LA) and is a athletic and big-hitting safety. For his size, at 6-foot-1, 200-pounds he has great speed and versatility. Wallow attends a talent-rich high school, John Curtis High School. He has a few major offers from schools like Arizona, Arkansas, Northwestern, TCU and Vanderbilt.

As of right now, there looks to be no top schools or leaders within his recruitment. Whenever there is a recruit like Wallow in the state of Louisiana, LSU is always a school to lookout for. However, at his high school, John Curtis, they have a track record of sending kids out of the state.

2017 Clearwater, FL (Clearwater) ATH Kane Taylor

Kane Taylor looks to be a Devin Asiasi 2.0. He is considered an athlete, but at 6-foot-4, 250-pounds he fits the mold of a tight end. He is a very athletic tight end and is a great blocker, he also plays fullback for his high school.

Things are just starting to pick up for Taylor on the recruiting trail. He already holds offers from South Carolina, Kentucky and Ole Miss. If he keeps improving and rising, some more big offers could be on the way for Taylor.
