Michigan kicked off a highly-anticipated weekend on the recruiting trail with a bang. The coaching staff landed their third commitment of the week in 2017 Jacksonville, FL (Trinity Christian) FB Chase Lasater. He is the first of many commitments Michigan is expecting to land this week.

I made a note two nights ago about how I expected Michigan to land Lasater over the weekend. He informed me that Michigan was his leader. However, that is not the reason I wrote the note on Lasater. I wrote it because he told me that he was ready to commit to Michigan on his visit. However, the catch was, he wanted a shot to play linebacker at Michigan, but the coaching staff would like him to play fullback. Looks like everything worked out.
Lasater is somewhat of an unknown recruit. He decided to take a visit to Michigan for the spring game and junior day without a actual offer full extended. However, he informed me that Michigan did extend the offer and he will not be visiting any other schools. It was no shock for me that Jim Harbaugh offered him, he is the typical hard-nose and physical type of player that Harbaugh loves.
Lasater becomes commit No. 9 for the Wolverines in the 2017 recruiting class. As a junior, Lasater had 43 tackles including 10.5 for loss and five sacks. He also had five more quarterback hurries for his national powerhouse high school program in Trinity Christian.
Michigan is just getting started for what is expected to come this weekend. Many other prosepects are expected to drop, recruits like Drew Singleton, Cesar Ruiz, Corey Malone-Hatcher and O’Maury Samuels. Buckle up, because Michigan is going to have a big weekend.
