RB Drake Johnson Injured By Forklift at Practice

Ann Arbor, Michigan- It was confirmed that fifth-year senior running back Drake Johnson was injured in a freak accident by a forklift on Wednesday at the indoor track facility while stretching.

Michigan’s filled statement:

“On Wednesday, an accident occurred at the indoor track and field building involving a student-athlete Drake Johnson. He was evaluated by a U-M Athletic Department Team Physician and was referred to the U-M Health System for further evaluation.”

Johnson is no stranger to injuries by already been through two ACL tears since the 2013 season opener against Central Michigan.

Johnson posted this tweet yesterday.

More details about the incident or his full health status has not yet been made available but sounds like he will be okay.

Jim Harbaugh was asked during the Big Ten Conference call this afternoon and said, “It was a miracle right up there with Easter. Thank God he’s alright. We’ve killed a lesser man.” The last comment was referring to when Bo Schembechler after he was run over in practice by a player in full pads and was asked to assess his own condition after the accidental hit during practice.

Johnson is 6-foot-1, 210 pounds expected to be Michigan’s second-team running back behind De’Veon Smith this season. Last year he had 54 carries for 271 yards. He was a high school state champion hurdler, he is also competing in that event at Michigan.
