Newsome’s two-time all state and top inside linebacker in Connecticut, Ben Mason, announced tonight he will join the talented “blue print” 2017 class at Michigan. Mason is a six-foot-two, 247 pound linebacker/fullback three-star according to Rivals and Scout.
Mason had 19 offers and narrowed down to a few, including Wisconsin and Michigan. He had offers from the Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, Pack 12, American and Ivy League schools. He was evaluated a couple months ago by the Michigan staff and was given a scholarship offer last month while he was on campus for an unofficial visit.
He recently attended The Opening regional at the Jet’s training facility and was one of the MVPs.

Mason showed at the event he has a great skill set of being able to cover down the field but also play offense. He is the overall fourth ranked 2017 player in Connecticut.
