The weekend of the 2016 Michigan spring game ended with some great recruiting news. Four-star RB O’Maury Samuels out of New Mexico announced his commitment to Michigan Sunday evening.
This makes it three running backs for the 2017 class, the sixth in the last week, and is the 10th commit. According to 247Sports, the addition of Samuels moves Michigan to seventh in the country for overall composite recruiting rankings.
Samuels is 5-foot-11, 190 pounds from Los Lunas High School in New Mexico. He is an explosive and impressive player being clocked at 4.45 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He showed off his speed at the Dallas Opening Regional. He rushed for 1,468 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. He is the highest rated prospect in New Mexico and No. 21-ranked running back in the class.
His one visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend for the annual spring game is all he needed to make his decision.
