The eighth seeded Wolverines (21-11) will take on the top Seeded Hoosiers (25-6) this Friday in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament. The game will tip off at noon EST in Indianapolis’ Bankers Life Fieldhouse, and will be televised on ESPN. Michigan is coming off a thrilling overtime win over Northwestern in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Although most bracketologists have Michigan as one of their “first four teams out” of the NCAA Tournament, U-M will have a good shot at earning a bid should they pull off the upset against Indiana.
Indiana Player to Watch:
The Hoosiers are playing their best basketball coming into the B1G Tourney, and the offensive dominance of Troy Williams is a major reason why. He has cut down turnovers and is attacking the rim with ease, scoring a career high 23 points in a win over #14 Maryland to conclude IU’s regular season. The 6-7 junior forward is averaging 13 points and 6 rebounds per game, shooting 52% from the field.
Michigan Player to Watch:
In a must-win game for the Wolverines, Sophomore Duncan Robinson thrived in the spotlight against Northwestern in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Robinson had a team high 21 points, and hit two big threes late in the game that were crucial for U-M. The 6-7 Winger averages 11.1 points per game, and is shooting 45% from beyond the arc.
Win and In. The injury plagued Wolverines failed to punch their NCAA ticket late in their season, and now their hopes of a Tournament bid ride on Friday’s outcome. U-M will have to find a way to slow a surging Indiana team that finished its season winning six out of its last seven games. Derrick Walton Jr. will have his hands full trying to keep Hoosier guard Yogi Ferrell in check. Michigan will need to win the three point battle as they did against Northwestern, and box out against the best offensive rebounding team in the conference.
